The tweets reflect both gratitude for rapid federal action and recognition of local heroism.
On July 11, 2025, the Press Office posted a statement from former President Trump referencing conversations with Rep. Roy: “He [Rep. Roy] called again and he said, ‘This is bad.’ And then it got really bad. Far beyond your worst, wildest imagination. Right? So thank you very much Chip. I appreciate it.”
Later that day, another tweet quoted Rep. Roy expressing appreciation to Trump for his responsiveness: “I can’t thank you enough. When I called you on Friday, you said, ‘whatever you need’ … I’ve never seen such a quick response and such a focus on delivering for the people.”
On July 13, 2025, Rep. Roy commented on media coverage and local efforts: “I think the real story is not all the finger pointing that the media wants to point to. It’s the heroism of those who showed up.”
Chip Roy currently serves in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 21st District, having taken office in 2019 after succeeding Lamar Smith. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and now residing in Austin at age 50, Roy holds a BS from the University of Virginia (1994) and a JD from the University of Texas-Austin (2003).
