On July 5, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy expressed appreciation to several prominent figures for their support during challenging times. He tweeted: “Thank you to @realDonaldTrump, @JDVance, and @Sec_Noem for your prayers and support.”
Later that day, he addressed the flooding situation in Texas Hill Country. In his tweet at 15:22 UTC, he highlighted the community’s resilience: “There are so many great people in this community who have been heroic in their efforts,” reflecting on the local response to the disaster.
Further detailing the severity of the flooding, Rep. Roy described the rapid rise of a river behind them in another tweet posted at 15:38 UTC. He stated: “The river behind us rose almost 30ft in less than an hour. It’s unprecedented… It’s just an operation to go make sure we go find anybody who is still alive, and then obviously recovery for those who unfortunately perished. Our prayers are with all the families.”
Chip Roy was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and currently resides in Austin. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in 1994 and earned a JD from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
