Rep. Chip Roy Press Office shared a series of statements on July 17, 2025, focusing on funding for public media and law enforcement policy, as well as criticism of progressive Democrats.
In a post published at 18:56 UTC, Rep. Roy stated, “I was just in Texas with the floods that were ravaging the communities that I represent, and they were more interested in trying to get people to call their house members and senators to save NPR and PBS than they were on reporting on”.
At 19:14 UTC the same day, he commented on Democratic lawmakers’ stance toward law enforcement: “The radical progressive Democrats, on the other hand, they’ve taken their extension of attacking police officers to all of law enforcement, including ICE… The rule of law must govern.”
Two minutes later, at 19:16 UTC, Rep. Roy added his support for ICE agents: “These ICE agents are doing their job… We stand with ICE. Radical progressive Democrats stand with gangs and criminals. The American people know who’s doing the right.”
Chip Roy is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 21st district. He has held this position since replacing Lamar Smith in 2019. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and now residing in Austin, Roy graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
