Rep. Chip Roy Press Office announced on May 19, 2026, that Rep. Chip Roy has introduced The Ban Chinese Communist and Islamist Home Ownership Act, a legislative proposal aimed at prohibiting foreign adversaries from purchasing American homes.

In a statement posted on his official account, the press office wrote: ” NEW: Rep. Roy introduces The Ban Chinese Communist and Islamist Home Ownership Act, legislation which would ban foreign adversaries from buying American homes.

“‘American homes belong to American families — not the Chinese Communist Party, foreign Islamists, or our” (May 19, 2026).

A follow-up post elaborated on the intent of the bill: “Rep. Roy’s Retake of America Day 2: The Ban Chinese Communist and Islamist Home Ownership Act slams the door on foreign adversaries owning American housing and forces them to sell what they already control.

Rep. Roy is putting America’s homes back in American hands.” (May 19, 2026).

Chip Roy is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 21st district after replacing Lamar Smith in 2019. He has maintained his seat through several election cycles since then, defeating Kristin Hook in the general election of 2024 with approximately 61.9% of the vote; Claudia Zapata in 2022 with about 62.8%; Wendy Davis in 2020 with roughly 52%; and Joseph Kopser in 2018 with about 50.2%.
