Rep. Chip Roy Press Office has recently shared updates on the Texas Hill Country flooding through a series of tweets. As the U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 21st district since 2019, Roy addressed the ongoing crisis and relief efforts in his jurisdiction.
On July 5, 2025, Rep. Chip Roy expressed hope amidst the dire situation in Texas Hill Country, stating: “Right now, we’re just praying that out of some hope, we’re able to find a few of those who are still missing… The emergency response team here has been fantastic.” This message highlighted both concern for missing individuals and appreciation for the emergency responders’ efforts.
Later that day, he issued a brief call to action via Twitter: “Pray for the Texas Hill Country.” The post was accompanied by the hashtag #HillCountryStrong, underscoring community resilience amid adversity.
In another update following a helicopter tour on July 5th, Rep. Roy provided visual evidence of flood damage: “After a helicopter tour, more to follow, but two images: 1) the damage to Camp Mystic. 2) the damage to the iconic Hunt Store (zoom in). We continue to work and pray here in Kerrville.” These observations highlighted significant destruction at local landmarks as part of his continued assessment of affected areas.
Chip Roy was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and resides in Austin. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in 1994 and earned a JD from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
