Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th District, has voiced his concerns over several pressing issues via social media. Doggett, who has been in Congress since 1995 and previously served in the Texas Senate, took to the digital platform to address matters of international accountability, educational funding, and healthcare protection.

On April 17, 2025, Doggett drew attention to the consequences of a conflict in Ukraine. He shared the harrowing depiction by a Ukrainian woman of a “playground Putin struck w/a ballistic missile, killing nine children,” describing it as a “field of corpses.” He reported that “The UN says 164 Ukrainian civilians were killed last month.” Doggett further criticized former U.S. President Trump for continuing to “absolve war criminal Putin from accountability.”

Later the same day, Doggett addressed domestic concerns regarding education, stating “Republican attacks on the Education Department are an attack on our children’s futures.” He expressed alarm at the “Musk/Trump slash-and-burn tactics” that jeopardize “$41 million in federal funds received this school year by @AustinISD,” affecting schools in disadvantaged neighborhoods and students with special needs.

Further emphasizing social welfare issues, Doggett highlighted a significant healthcare funding threat tying back to proposed budget cuts. He indicated that “Republicans want to cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid,” a program crucially serving “3 million children, 700,000+ seniors and individuals with disabilities,” and “250,000+ pregnant women” in Texas. He urged for the preservation of this vital service with the hashtag “#HandsOffMedicaid.”

Doggett, born in Austin, Texas, also holds degrees in law and arts from the University of Texas at Austin, bolstering his legislative career through extensive experience and local roots.
