Lloyd Doggett, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th District, has made several statements on various issues through social media. In his recent communications, he discussed topics ranging from national budget concerns to environmental campaigns and criticized current presidential conduct.

On May 2, 2025, Doggett expressed criticism of President Trump’s budget proposal. He stated, “Once again, Trump’s Budget puts working families last while further enriching his billionaire buddies. Educational opportunities, lifesaving medical research, domestic violence funds—all slashed. The winner? Elon Musk.”

Doggett also highlighted community engagement in environmental initiatives. On May 3, 2025, he wrote, “Great to join Parents’ Climate Community, Ghisallo and Yellow Bike Project for Kidical Mass. Kids today and tomorrow deserve clean air, safe streets, and a stable planet. Congratulations to Eileen McGinnis and other parents for forming this new action group to address the impact.”

Later on May 3, 2025, Doggett shared his views on the current administration’s behavior. He commented, “Watching any sense of White House decency or propriety going up in smoke. Hardly a pontiff, only a malicious pontificator.”

Doggett, having represented Texas’ 37th District since 1995, after succeeding J. J. Pickle, has a long history of public service that also includes a stint in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. Born in 1946 in Austin, Texas, Doggett graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in 1967 and a JD in 1970.
