Lloyd Doggett, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 37th District, recently shared a series of thoughts through tweets. Doggett has been involved in the legislative process since 1995 when he replaced J.J. Pickle, following his tenure in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. Born in Austin, Texas in 1946 and residing there now, Doggett is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his BA in 1967 and JD in 1970.

On April 12, 2025, Doggett extended greetings to those observing the Jewish festival of Passover, writing, “Sending warm wishes to everyone celebrating Passover. May this be a peaceful and joyous holiday for you and your family. Chag Sameach!”

The following day, on April 13, 2025, Doggett criticized the impact of the cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) on social welfare programs. He expressed his concern in a tweet, stating how quickly it undermines critical programs, urging prominent figures to reconsider, “The only thing efficient about DOGE is how quickly it undermines critical, efficient programs like Social Security. Trump, Musk, and their Republican enablers need to get their #HandsOff this hard-earned benefit.”

On April 14, 2025, Doggett addressed recent actions by RFK Jr., who made job cuts and criticized them for spreading conspiracy theories and destabilizing efforts. Doggett remarked on this initiative via Twitter, stating “Conspiracy theories, lies, and sheer paranoia. After firing thousands of their colleagues without cause, RFK Jr. took his MAHA tour to the FDA with a mission to Make America Hopeless.”

Lloyd Doggett has consistently advocated for social welfare and has taken a firm stance against what he perceives to be harmful policies or actions, exemplified through his public statements regarding social security and recent political tours.
