Lloyd Doggett, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 37th district since 1995, has posted a series of tweets on April 7, 2026, expressing concerns about former President Donald Trump’s recent statements and actions. In his first tweet at 19:18 UTC, Doggett referenced comments from Senator Ron Johnson and called for more Republican voices to speak out. He wrote:

“Even one of the most committed MAGA loyalists in the Senate, Ron Johnson, says Trump would be making a ‘huge mistake’ to ‘start blowing up civilian infrastructure.’ We need more Republicans speaking out NOW to stop an unhinged Trump. Where are the calls for restraint from our https://t.co/6L4yObnDoT”

.Later that evening at 20:33 UTC, Doggett questioned Trump’s fitness for office and discussed constitutional remedies. He stated:

“Trump’s deranged behavior indicates he is unfit to serve and should be removed from office. But the 25th Amendment offers little hope. It requires action from the VP and any handpicked minions, who he has not yet fired from his Cabinet. The Congressional remedy is impeachment,”

.At 21:32 UTC, Doggett addressed potential military involvement in carrying out unlawful orders related to Iran. He tweeted:

“If Trump persists with his threats to destroy Iranian civilization, our military leaders must not be complicit. Germans learned at Nuremberg that ‘I was just following orders’ is no defense to unlawful orders. Reaffirmed in the Defense Department’s Law of War Manual: ‘Each”

.Doggett has been a member of Congress since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. He was born in Austin in 1946 and continues to reside there.

Lloyd Doggett is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Texas’ 37th district.

In recent elections, he won re-election by significant margins against Jenny Garcia Sharon both in 2022 (76.8% of votes) and again in 2024 (74.2%). Doggett holds both a BA (1967) and JD (1970) from the University of Texas at Austin.
