Lloyd Doggett, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, shared his thoughts and experiences in a series of tweets addressing the ongoing situation in Texas following a flood. Born in Austin, Texas, Doggett has been serving in Congress since 1995 after succeeding J.J. Pickle. Prior to this role, he was a member of the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985.
On July 7, 2025, Doggett expressed his support for those affected by the flood in Texas. He wrote “As search, rescue and recovery efforts are underway in Texas, my heart remains with the families affected and with immense gratitude for the first responders and supportive volunteers doing such challenging work.” In this tweet posted at 03:55:20 UTC, he also called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
