Lloyd Doggett, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, recently shared several updates on social media. His communications covered a range of topics from sports achievements to pressing political issues.
On June 7, 2025, Doggett congratulated the Texas Softball team for their victory in a national championship series. He stated, “Congratulations, @TexasSoftball! After a thrilling 3-game series against our friends up in Lubbock, Texas Fight prevailed to bring the national championship home to Austin for the first time in program history.”
The following day, June 8, Doggett announced his appearance on MSNBC with Ali Velshi. In his tweet, he mentioned his intention to discuss economic policies and their implications. He wrote, “I’m joining @VelshiMSNBC at 10am CT to talk about Trump and Republican lies about the economy and their one big ugly bill that will deny health care and food assistance for millions of Americans in order to pay for more billionaire tax breaks.”
On June 9, Doggett addressed concerns regarding healthcare practices involving UnitedHealth Medicare Advantage plans. He revealed collaborative efforts with fellow Congress member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in urging an investigation by the Department of Justice into alleged misconduct. He tweeted, “Following deeply troubling reporting that UnitedHealth Medicare DisAdvantage plans pay nursing homes to deny necessary hospital care, @RepAOC and I are pressing @TheJusticeDept to investigate this potential rampant fraud, waste, and abuse endangering residents.”
Lloyd Doggett has served as a representative since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995. Born in Austin in 1946 and an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin with both a BA and JD degree, Doggett’s long career includes prior service in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985.
