Lloyd Doggett, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 37th district since 1995, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account criticizing former President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies.

On March 11, 2026, Doggett wrote: “Secretary Rubio confirmed that Trump was not America First, but at best, America second behind Netanyahu. Like President George W. Bush, Trump could have said no, when there was obviously no imminent threat to America.

Doggett has represented Texas’s 37th district in Congress since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with both a BA and JD degree and resides in Austin where he was born in 1946.

In recent elections, Doggett secured re-election by significant margins against Jenny Garcia Sharon in both 2022 and 2024.
