Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 37th district since 1995, shared his perspectives on various contentious subjects. Authoring several tweets on April 24, 2025, he discussed international issues, national security concerns, and censorship in educational contexts.
He criticized former President Donald Trump’s attitude toward Russian President Vladimir Putin. On April 24, 2025, Doggett stated, “No matter how many Ukrainian civilians Putin continues to murder, his man in Washington, Donald Trump, is never bothered. Putin is one of the few people in the world for whom Trump has never had a negative word.” He further noted that “Trump remains unceasing in his unjustified criticism of” other issues or individuals.
On the same day, Doggett highlighted potential national security threats involving the Musk/Trump DOGE. In a tweet, he reported, “Musk/Trump DOGE is reportedly accessing and removing Americans’ sensitive information at yet another federal agency. Minutes after this latest intrusion, an IP address in Russia tried to log in to the system. DOGE is a threat to our national security.”
In another post, Doggett commented on an incident involving a Bastrop bookstore owner whose lecture was canceled at the Naval Academy. He stated, “A Bastrop bookstore owner had his lecture canceled at the Naval Academy when he refused to overlook the books Trump had banned on campus, such as Maya Angelou’s ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.’ I encourage you to read his guest op-ed. I agree with him and President Eisenhower.”
Lloyd Doggett, born in Austin, Texas in 1946, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with both a BA and a JD. Having served in both the Texas Senate and U.S. Congress, he continues to be an influential figure in federal governance.
