Lloyd Doggett, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 37th district, addressed issues ranging from health care fraud to border security and international reconciliation in a series of posts on April 17, 2026.
In a post made at 14:23 UTC, Doggett criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former President Donald Trump for their handling of health care fraud, stating, “RFK can’t answer basic questions about health care fraudsters walking free at his and Trump’s direction. This regime uses fraud as an excuse to deny Americans basic care while the real criminals get a clean slate and don’t have to pay millions in restitution to the defrauded.”
Later that day at 17:40 UTC, Doggett voiced opposition to building a wall in Big Bend, citing both financial waste and potential risks to Texans’ safety: “Building a wall in Big Bend isn’t just waste of taxpayer dollars, it’s a threat to the lives of Texans. By disrupting the flow of the Rio Grande Valley, this project would increase the risks of deadly flash floods and severely impact downstream communities like Laredo.”
At 20:31 UTC, Doggett shared his experience meeting two peace advocates from opposing sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: “Meeting @AzizAbuSarah and @maozinon — a Palestinian and an Israeli, who chose reconciliation and peace, though each carries devastating family loss from the same conflict. They’re traveling the world together to prove that listening to each other’s pain is where it all has to”
Doggett has represented Texas’s 37th district since 1995 after replacing J.J. Pickle. He previously served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. Born in Austin in 1946, Doggett holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.
In recent elections, he secured significant victories over Jenny Garcia Sharon in both 2022 and 2024.
