Lloyd Doggett, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 37th district since 1995, recently posted a series of critical tweets addressing political and international issues.

On April 2, 2026, Doggett commented on the departure of Pam Bondi from her position, stating: “Good riddance to Pam Bondi, who weaponized the DOJ against Trump’s political enemies and continuously ignored the law to protect the Epstein class from accountability with her botched release of the files. You won’t be missed! Of course, the real problem is not Pam but Donald.”

The following day, April 3, Doggett addressed U.S. foreign policy and its impact on Russia’s economy: “Putin is making a killing—literally a killing—thanks to Trump’s sanctions relief & reckless war spike of oil prices. Russia is earning about $9 billion monthly as its crude has surged from around $60 a barrel to over $100. Trump is fueling Putin’s well-oiled war machine to”

Later that same day, he criticized Texas Governor Abbott’s school voucher program: “Governor Abbott promoted his voucher scheme as ‘school choice.’ But a new study shows some had already chosen–76% of applicants weren’t even enrolled in public schools last year. With our public schools chronically underfunded, the Republicans didn’t seek to strengthen public”

Doggett has represented Texas’s 37th District in Congress since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. He was born in Austin in 1946 and continues to reside there. Doggett earned both his BA (1967) and JD (1970) from the University of Texas at Austin.

In recent elections, Doggett defeated Jenny Garcia Sharon by wide margins: in 2024 with over 74% of the vote and similarly strong results in previous cycles.
