Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, recently shared his views on various topics through social media posts. His comments touched upon issues related to air travel safety, historical commemorations, and political criticisms.
On June 6, 2025, Doggett addressed concerns about air travel safety in a tweet: “Summer travel is ramping up, and our airport’s air traffic controllers are still overworked and understaffed. I continue to fight for more resources because the FAA’s failures are creating dangerous safety lapses, and travelers are too often inconvenienced with delays.”
Later that day, he reflected on a significant historical event by tweeting: “On this day, 81 years ago, American troops and allied forces bravely stormed the beaches of Normandy—a pivotal moment in the liberation of Europe against fascism. By remembering their heroic stories and sacrifices on D-Day, we can ensure democracy continues to prevail against”
The following day on June 7, 2025, Doggett criticized the previous administration with a brief statement: “The pettiness of the Trump Administration is never-ending.”
Lloyd Doggett has been serving in Congress since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995. Born in Austin in 1946 and educated at the University of Texas at Austin where he earned both his BA and JD degrees, Doggett has also served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985.
