Lloyd Doggett, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 37th district since 1995, shared a series of posts on March 13, 2026, addressing topics ranging from artificial intelligence in education to concerns about domestic surveillance and recent attacks against the Jewish community.
In his first post of the day, Doggett wrote: “Great to join Chancellor Russell Lowery-Hart and Austin Community College trustees in partnership with the Trellis Foundation to make greater use of AI to help support students and to train students in working with AI.” (March 13, 2026). This statement highlights ongoing efforts at Austin Community College to integrate artificial intelligence into student support services and training programs.
Later that afternoon, Doggett addressed national security issues related to artificial intelligence. He stated: “As Trump Regime insists that it should not be denied the ability to use Artificial Intelligence for domestic mass surveillance and to operate weapons without human control, Anthropic has rightly declined. Now it has been joined by other important forces in opposition to this” (March 13, 2026).
In a subsequent post concerning public safety and religious freedom, Doggett commented on an incident outside Detroit: “Families should never live in fear as they attend their house of worship. A driver ramming his truck into a synagogue outside Detroit is yet another horrific attack against the Jewish community — part of a deeply troubling pattern across the globe. A recent survey by the American” (March 13, 2026).
Doggett’s remarks come as he continues his long tenure in Congress; he has represented Texas’s 37th District since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995 and previously served in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985. Born in Austin in 1946 and educated at the University of Texas at Austin—where he earned both his BA and JD—Doggett remains active on issues relevant both locally and nationally.
He most recently secured re-election by defeating Jenny Garcia Sharon with over seventy percent of the vote in both the 2024 and 2022 general elections.
