On July 7, 2025, Joaquin Castro remarked on the continued rescue efforts in response to severe flooding in Kerr County and Central Texas. He stated, “As rescue missions continue, San Antonians continue to grieve the tragic loss of life from the catastrophic flooding in Kerr County and Central Texas. Just last month, a devastating flash flood event in San Antonio caused 13 deaths. Leaders at all levels of government—local,” emphasizing the gravity of the situation and recent similar tragedies.

The following day, on July 8, Castro highlighted the impact on families affected by the floods. He noted that “Families have been devastated by catastrophic flooding in Central Texas. The number of people lost continues to grow. We need to do better.” Castro called for collaboration among leaders across various government levels to develop preventative measures against such disasters.

On July 9, Castro expressed appreciation for international cooperation during these challenging times. He wrote “I am deeply grateful to the firefighters and first responders who traveled from Mexico to work with American teams to save lives in Central Texas after devastating floods.” This statement acknowledges the joint efforts between Mexican and American teams amid numerous acts of bravery throughout this crisis.
