Joaquin Castro, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas’ 20th district, has recently shared updates on his legislative initiatives and upcoming events through a series of posts on social media. Castro, who has represented the district since 2013 after succeeding Charlie Gonzalez and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013, continues to focus on education, scientific collaboration, and community engagement.
On July 10, 2025, Castro highlighted his support for early education by promoting new legislation: “Early education gives our kids the tools they need for future success. My bill, The Head Start for Our Future Act, would allow college students to work in Head Start and other early education programs through the federal work-study program.”
The following day, July 11, 2025, he addressed efforts to advance international scientific cooperation: “My bill, the Strengthening Science Through Diplomacy Act, will enhance our ties with the European science community—paving the way for ground-breaking advances in the coming years. Joaquin Castro was born in San Antonio in 1974 and continues to reside there. He holds a BA from Stanford University (1996) and a JD from Harvard University (2000).
