On June 13, 2025, Castro expressed his condolences for the victims of flash floods in San Antonio. In his post, he stated: “This is a tragedy. My prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims of this week’s flash floods.” He also extended gratitude to first responders for their dedication to recovery efforts, emphasizing the unity of San Antonio during such events.
The following day, June 14, Castro conveyed his sorrow over the loss of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband who were killed. He remarked: “I am praying for the family and loved ones of Rep. Melissa Hortman after she and her husband were killed.” Additionally, he offered prayers for Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, hoping for their healing and recovery.
On June 15, Castro addressed potential U.S. involvement in international conflict under President Trump’s administration. He asserted that if there is an intention to increase U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran war by attacking Iran, it should be preceded by congressional authorization: “If President Trump intends to get the U.S. more involved…he must come to Congress…”
