Joaquin Castro, a U.S. Congress member representing Texas’ 20th district since 2013, recently shared his views on several national issues through social media. Known for his tenure in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013, Castro has consistently engaged with public discourse.
On May 14, 2025, Castro expressed concerns about the politicization of intelligence under the Trump Administration. He stated that “Under the Trump Administration, intelligence is being politicized and bent to the will of President Trump. That is dangerous because it intimidates intelligence analysts, undercuts the integrity of their work, and undermines our national security.”
The following day, May 15, he addressed birthright citizenship in a tweet emphasizing constitutional rights. Castro remarked that “The Constitution is clear: people born in the United States are American citizens. Birthright citizenship is an undeniable right.” He further added that any changes desired by Republicans would require a constitutional amendment.
Later on May 15, Castro criticized a decision by Republican members on a House Committee regarding Medicaid. He highlighted that “Yesterday, all 30 Republicans on a key House Committee voted to kick over 10 million Americans off of Medicaid so that they can pay for tax cuts for the rich.” Castro noted that every Democratic member opposed this move and pledged continued efforts to support hardworking Americans.
Joaquin Castro was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1974 and holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.
