Joaquin Castro, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 20th district since 2013, has recently addressed several key national issues through a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 22, 2025, Castro criticized recent immigration enforcement measures under the Trump administration, stating: “Under Trump’s mandate to deport 3,000 people a day, ICE is turning to racial profiling and targeting non-criminals. I’m fighting to protect due process from these attacks in San Antonio and communities across the country.”
The following day, July 23, he highlighted bipartisan efforts in Congress regarding U.S. foreign policy and diplomacy: “Diplomacy is about building trust and showing up. I’m leading a bipartisan push to preserve U.S. leadership and advance our foreign policy priorities. The PARTNER Act will extend diplomatic coordination with international partners. Yesterday, @HouseForeign passed it.”
Later that same day, Castro called for accountability in disaster response management: “.@SecretaryNoem needs to answer for the chaos. I joined my colleagues demanding a hearing on FEMA’s response to the devastating floods to prevent future tragedies. We owe it to every Texan and American.”
Castro has represented Texas’s 20th District in Congress since replacing Charlie Gonzalez in 2013 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013. Born in San Antonio in 1974, Castro continues to reside there today. He holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
