Joaquin Castro, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 20th district, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding various pressing issues. Born in San Antonio in 1974 and a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard University, Castro has served in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Charlie Gonzalez.

On July 9, 2025, Joaquin Castro criticized South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem for delaying the approval of FEMA search and rescue teams following severe flooding in Central Texas. “After devastating flooding began in Central Texas, @SecNoem waited 3 days to approve FEMA search and rescue teams. During disasters, every second matters. Noem must answer for this delay.”

The next day, July 10, Castro expressed his support for an oversight hearing regarding FEMA’s response to the floods. He called upon the Homeland Security Committee to scrutinize the agency’s actions due to Noem’s delayed response. “I joined my colleagues demanding @HomelandGOP hold an oversight hearing on @FEMA’s response to the devastating floods in Central Texas—especially in light of @Sec_Noem waiting 3 days before sending FEMA search and rescue teams.”

Also on July 10, Castro shared news about a legal decision blocking former President Donald Trump’s plan to end birthright citizenship. He viewed this judicial action as an affirmation of constitutional rights related to American citizenship by birth. “A judge has BLOCKED Trump’s plan to end birthright citizenship—a constitutional right.”

Joaquin Castro’s recent tweets reflect his ongoing commitment to addressing critical issues impacting Texans and Americans nationwide.
