With an educational background from Stanford University and Harvard University, Castro has been a prominent political figure since his time in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013.
On June 2, 2025, Joaquin Castro expressed his condolences following a violent attack in Boulder, Colorado. He stated “My heart goes out to the victims and their families after the violent, antisemitic attack in Boulder, Colorado yesterday. I am praying for their full recovery.”
Later that day, he reacted to another tragic event involving actor Jonathan Joss. Castro tweeted on June 2, 2025: “What a shocking tragedy. Jonathan Joss was a talented and dynamic actor who touched so many lives. My prayers are with his family and friends during this heartbreaking time. This was a homophobic attack and this has no place in America.”
The following day, on June 3, 2025, Congressman Castro commemorated Pride Month by highlighting progress made for LGBTQIA+ rights while urging continued support for these communities. He stated: “Happy Pride month y’all! As a nation, we’ve made big strides to protect LGBTQIA+ folks. Let’s not turn back the clock now. This month is about celebrating you—and uplifting your stories and experiences. I stand with you!”
