Representative Chip Roy of Texas issued a statement following the House’s approval of The One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The legislation is now set to be presented to the President for signing.

Roy highlighted the efforts made by House conservatives in collaboration with President Trump’s team over the past six months. He stated, “Today, after a long day-and-night working hard to secure key wins from the administration to end the damaging Green New Scam subsidies, lock in substantial additional reductions in spending, and further assurances on how Medicaid will go to vulnerable Americans and not illegal aliens – I voted to support the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’”

The process involved passing budget resolutions and reconciliation packages twice while working closely with various committees. According to Roy, these efforts resulted in significant financial savings and reforms. “We were told ‘We can save maybe $300 billion.’ House conservatives secured $1.6 trillion in legitimate savings,” he remarked.

The bill also addresses Medicaid and SNAP/Food Stamps reforms, with Roy noting that conservatives secured over $1 trillion in changes related to Medicaid and Obamacare. He added that there were also substantial savings from ending future projects associated with what he referred to as the “Green New Scam.”

Furthermore, Roy emphasized that despite opposition from Congress and lobbyists, they achieved notable victories such as border security enhancements and tax relief extensions. He concluded his statement by encouraging continued efforts: “Celebrate today. Fight again tomorrow.”
