Congressman Greg Casar, who has represented Texas’s 35th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, has recently addressed several key issues through social media posts. Casar, a Houston native currently residing in Austin, commented on tax policy, disaster response efforts in Texas, and changes to Social Security.
On July 10, 2025, Casar criticized a Republican-supported tax cut that he said benefits wealthy individuals. He referenced Linda McMahon by name and questioned the necessity of such financial relief for billionaires: “Republicans just voted to give billionaires like Linda McMahon a giant tax cut. I asked her what she needed the money for. I’m still waiting for her answer.”
In a post dated July 11, 2025, Casar addressed concerns about emergency management following severe flooding in Texas. He announced his collaboration with Representatives Robert Garcia and Jasmine to seek explanations from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem regarding delays in resource deployment: “Texans deserve answers about what went right and what went wrong in the response to the terrible flooding. I’m joining @RepRobertGarcia and @RepJasmine to demand answers from DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on why it took her 72 hours to approve search and rescue resources.”
On July 12, 2025, Casar turned his attention to Social Security administration issues, attributing recent problems—including staff reductions and data security breaches—to actions by Donald Trump and Elon Musk: “What Trump and Musk have done to Social Security is a scandal. Mass firings. Website crashes. DOGE stealing sensitive data. Longer and longer wait times. Now this. Seniors should not pay the price for Trump and Musk’s recklessness.”
Greg Casar succeeded Lloyd Doggett as representative of Texas’s 35th district in 2023. He was born in Houston in 1989 and graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in 2011.
