Congressman Greg Casar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 35th district since 2023, recently shared his perspectives on several issues through a series of tweets. Casar, born in Houston and residing in Austin, often addresses topics related to immigration, worker safety, and taxation.
On May 9, 2025, Congressman Casar expressed concerns about immigration policies under former President Donald Trump and Governor Greg Abbott. He stated that “The government should focus on keeping our country safe, and keeping our families together.” He emphasized that deporting U.S. citizen children is unjustified regardless of any claims made by Trump or Abbott regarding immigrants.
In another tweet dated May 10, 2025, Casar criticized actions taken against the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), implying they could have fatal consequences. He remarked “I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that eviscerating NIOSH, as they have, will cause people to die.” Accusing Trump of failing to protect workers despite promises to do so, he added that cutting safety programs negatively impacts workers from states where Trump had significant electoral support.
Later the same day, Casar addressed economic disparities and tax evasion by wealthy individuals like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. In his view “Billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos pay less in taxes than the workers who built their wealth.” Highlighting growing financial inequities and tax avoidance among the ultra-wealthy while ordinary Americans face economic challenges, he urged Congress to implement measures taxing the rich more effectively.
Greg Casar graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011.
