Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments. In a series of tweets posted on June 16, 2025, he addressed issues concerning the GOP budget proposal and its implications for Americans, as well as his background in labor organization.
On June 16, 2025, Congressman Casar tweeted about the potential impact of the GOP budget proposal: “Under the GOP budget proposal: The lowest income Americans lose $1,600 a year. Billionaires get a giant tax cut.” This statement highlights concerns over economic disparities that may arise from proposed fiscal policies.
Later that day, Casar commented on public awareness regarding legislative changes affecting Medicaid. He stated: “The most important number in this poll is: a third of Americans have heard almost nothing about Trump’s bill that cuts Medicaid to pay for billionaire tax cuts. Call your friends and family. Peacefully protest. March.” He urged citizens to take action against what he perceives as inequitable financial policies.
In another tweet posted on June 16, Casar reflected on his past experiences before joining Congress: “I was a labor organizer before I was in Congress. It’s where I learned how to unite workers from all backgrounds around one simple idea: We might not agree on everything, but we all agree that workers deserve a raise.” He expressed gratitude towards Kara Swisher for discussing these topics with him.
Greg Casar has served in the U.S. Congress since replacing Lloyd Doggett in 2023. Born in Houston and currently residing in Austin, Casar graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in 2011.
