Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district, shared a series of tweets expressing concerns about recent developments involving high-profile individuals and political appointments in the United States. The tweets, posted on April 21 and 22, 2025, reflect Casar’s positions on issues ranging from Social Security cuts to national security and political patronage.
On April 21, Casar highlighted a conversation with Ms. Moore, “who has worked in public education for decades.” Casar mentioned she contacted his office due to concerns over Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s intentions regarding Social Security. He quoted Moore stating “Isn’t that outrageous?”, in reference to these plans.
Later that day, Casar addressed Musk’s plans, which he described as a “genius idea” to direct “hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars” towards Musk, while making “national security reliant on a subscription service” he owns. Casar openly opposes this, stating “Hell no. Fire Elon Musk.”
On April 22, the congressman commented on political campaign donations impacting ambassadorial appointments. He noted that “Trump’s nominees to become ambassadors have donated $60 million to Trump and Republican campaigns since 2023.” Casar argued that this results in Trump benefiting financially while “working people get screwed.”, suggesting a disconnect between political elites and the broader public.
Greg Casar has been a member of the U.S. Congress since 2023, replacing Lloyd Doggett, and represents Texas’ 35th district. Casar, aged 33, was born in Houston, Texas, and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2011.
