Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district, has recently taken to social media to express his concerns on various pressing issues. Casar, who replaced Lloyd Doggett in 2023 and holds a degree from the University of Virginia, is known for his active engagement with constituents through platforms like Twitter.
On May 17, 2025, Congressman Casar highlighted a tragic incident involving a Tesla worker who was electrocuted to death due to alleged safety rule violations by the company. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) fined Tesla $50,000 for this incident. Casar criticized this penalty by stating that “Elon Musk makes that back in nine minutes from federal contracts alone.” He emphasized that “Workers’ lives are worth more than nine minutes of Elon Musk’s day.”
The following day, on May 18, 2025, Casar turned his attention to former President Donald Trump’s policies regarding veteran health care. He accused Trump of cutting health care services for veterans and firing more veterans than any previous president under the guise of efficiency. Meanwhile, he pointed out Trump’s request for a costly birthday celebration by saying “for his own birthday, he wants a $45 million taxpayer-funded parade.”
Later on the same day, Congressman Casar questioned the priorities of tax policy in the United States. He critiqued tax cuts benefiting billionaires while simultaneously reducing access to essential health care services for ordinary citizens. In his tweet, he posed the question: “Instead of tax cuts for billionaires and kicking folks out of health care, why don’t we make sure people have access to the life-saving care they need?”
Greg Casar continues to advocate for workers’ rights and equitable healthcare access as part of his congressional duties.
