Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district since 2023, has taken to social media to express his concerns regarding recent legislative actions. Casar, who succeeded Lloyd Doggett in Congress and resides in Austin, Texas, voiced his opposition to several measures being proposed by House Republicans.
On May 15, 2025, Congressman Casar criticized the Republican Party for their proposed budget cuts. He stated that “House Republicans are making massive cuts to the program that helps 42 million Americans afford food to eat.” He accused them of prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires over essential programs that feed families.
Later on the same day, May 15, Casar highlighted another issue concerning healthcare access. He tweeted about efforts by Republicans to reduce Medicaid coverage: “This week, Republicans are trying to kick 8.6 million Americans off Medicaid.” He shared a conversation with a constituent named Eric about the personal impact of losing Medicaid.
On May 16, Congressman Casar addressed an international matter involving former President Donald Trump. In his tweet, he noted that “The $400 million luxury plane given to Trump by Qatar is worth 100 times more than every other presidential gift from a foreign nation combined since 2001.” Casar suggested this exemplifies how working people suffer while wealthy individuals benefit from foreign influence.
Greg Casar was born in Houston in 1989 and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
