Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district since 2023, has recently shared his views on social media regarding legislative actions and community matters. Casar, born in Houston and a University of Virginia graduate, currently resides in Austin.
On July 4, 2025, Congressman Casar criticized Republican members of Congress by stating that when they claim to care about “the little guy,” it should be noted that “They just voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history.”
The following day, July 5, 2025, he elaborated on the impact of a newly passed bill by Republicans. According to Casar’s post, the legislation “Cuts health care for 17 million,” increases costs for employer-based insurance by $480 annually, raises energy bills for Texans by over $700, and reduces SNAP benefits for three million people monthly. He attributes these measures to providing tax cuts to billionaires.
On July 6, 2025, Congressman Casar expressed satisfaction with a community success story involving Mr. Zurita being reunited with his family. He encouraged constituents facing federal government challenges to reach out to his office for assistance: “Our community is better off because Mr. Zurita will be reunited with his family.”
Greg Casar has been serving in the U.S. Congress since replacing Lloyd Doggett in 2023.
