Congressman Greg Casar, who represents Texas’s 35th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from Medicaid cuts to billionaire tax rates and alleged corruption. Casar, who succeeded Lloyd Doggett in 2023 and resides in Austin, posted a series of tweets on July 20 and 21 highlighting his concerns.
On July 20, Casar wrote: “This should be breaking news every American hears about. A new study shows more than 1,000 Americans will die every year because Republicans cut Medicaid to pay for billionaire tax cuts.” He referenced a study suggesting that recent changes to Medicaid funding could have significant health impacts.
Later that day, Casar commented on alleged financial misconduct involving major corporations and political figures: “Millions from Amazon, Facebook, and CBS. A $400 million ‘palace in the sky’ from a foreign country. Billions in corrupt crypto deals. Trump’s corruption is staggering.”
On July 21, Casar addressed the topic of Social Security contributions by wealthy individuals: “Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos should not pay into Social Security at a lower rate than police officers and truck drivers do. We need to make billionaires pay their fair share so we can expand Social Security and guarantee all seniors a decent life.”
Casar has been serving as a U.S. Representative since 2023 after earning his BA from the University of Virginia in 2011. Born in Houston in 1989, he is among the younger members of Congress.
