Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district since 2023, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding several political issues. Casar, who succeeded Lloyd Doggett and resides in Austin, Texas, has used his platform to address topics ranging from economic policies to healthcare.
On May 7, 2025, Congressman Casar highlighted what he described as a significant scandal involving former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. In his tweet, he stated: “This is a huge new scandal. Trump and Musk are using tariffs as leverage to get other countries to buy from Musk’s companies. Working families pay $4,000+ more a year so Musk gets new deals. They get richer. Everyone else gets screwed.”
Later that day, Casar addressed potential healthcare impacts due to proposed GOP cuts to Medicaid in another post. He wrote: “This morning we learned more than 5 million Americans could lose their health care because of GOP cuts to Medicaid. So what are the Republicans on the DOGE committee calling an emergency hearing about? Trans athletes in semi-pro fencing. What the hell are we doing here?”
In a subsequent tweet later that evening, Casar criticized Republican priorities by stating: “Republicans are calling hearings to talk about trans athletes in fencing. Their goal is clear: to make sure Fox has something to talk about other than Elon Musk’s theft and Marjorie Taylor Greene’s insider trading.”
Greg Casar was born in Houston in 1989 and graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011.
