Congressman Greg Casar, representing Texas’ 35th district since 2023, has taken to social media to express his concerns on various pressing issues. Casar, who succeeded Lloyd Doggett in Congress and holds a BA from the University of Virginia, addressed topics ranging from proposed budget cuts to recent acts of violence.
On May 21, 2025, Congressman Casar tweeted about a Republican budget bill that proposes significant reductions in Medicare and Medicaid funding. He stated: “Breaking news everyone should know: the Republican budget bill includes the biggest Medicare cut in American history — in addition to the biggest Medicaid cut in history. We must hold House Republicans accountable to block this horrific proposal.”
Later that day, Casar questioned his Republican colleagues regarding their stance on healthcare premiums and tax breaks for billionaires. He tweeted: “I asked my Republican colleagues to explain why they’re jacking up health care premiums on their constituents while giving billionaires a tax break. Silence.”
On May 22, 2025, he addressed an incident involving violence against Israeli embassy officials. In his tweet, he expressed his condolences and condemnation of such acts: “The murder of two Israeli embassy officials outside the Capital Jewish Museum is horrifying. My thoughts are with their families. Antisemitism and violence have no place in our country. I condemn such hate and violence in all its forms.”
Greg Casar was born in Houston, Texas in 1989 and currently resides in Austin.
