Congressman Greg Casar, who has been serving Texas’s 35th district since 2023, has been vocal on social media regarding certain prominent business figures and political issues. Through a series of tweets, Casar has expressed concern about the influence of billionaires such as Trump, Musk, and Bezos, and the impact of their actions on the American populace.
On April 29, 2025, Casar tweeted about a recent incident involving former President Trump and Jeff Bezos. He stated, “Trump, Musk, Bezos, and the billionaires are all on the same team. Just look at what happened today. After one call from Trump, Bezos immediately walked back a plan to show Americans how tariffs are increasing prices. To fight back, Democrats must bring working people together.” This tweet implies concerted actions among the wealthy towards certain financial agendas, impacting American consumers.
The following day, April 30, 2025, Casar mentioned Elon Musk’s involvement with federal employees, asserting that “Elon Musk’s weekly ‘5 things’ emails for federal employees were never about efficiency — they were about finding an excuse to fire veterans and steal their salaries for billionaire tax cuts. Musk losing influence over Trump and Republicans isn’t enough.” This commentary suggests skepticism about Musk’s motives in initiatives supposedly aimed at improving efficiency.
Additionally, Casar criticized tariff impositions, stating the following on the same day, “This is what Trump’s reckless tariffs are about. Trump and Musk make you pay $4,000 more a year so that corporations and foreign countries will bribe them for exceptions. It’s the same story over and over: they get rich. You get screwed.” Casar’s tweet presents a critical view of the tariffs, suggesting that they unfairly burden everyday citizens while benefiting corporations and foreign entities.
Casar was born in Houston, Texas in 1989 and currently resides in Austin. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in 2011.
