Later that day, Rep. Roy expressed his views on congressional ethics regarding stock trading by members of Congress. He asserted that lawmakers should prioritize their constituents’ interests over personal financial gain through stock trading, saying, “Members of Congress should come here to advance the interests of their constituents, not to enrich themselves using stock trading,”

Chip Roy has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2019 as a representative for Texas’ 21st district after succeeding Lamar Smith. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and currently residing in Austin, he holds degrees from both the University of Virginia and the University of Texas-Austin.
