Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, the communications arm for U.S. Representative Chip Roy of Texas, shared a series of posts on September 2, 2025, highlighting bipartisan legislative efforts and border security concerns.

In a post from September 2, the office cited TIME Magazine: “.@TIME: ‘The TRUST in Congress Act, introduced in the House by Magaziner and Roy, would force members and their spouses and children to either divest their assets or move them into qualified blind trusts for the duration of their time in office.'” The message underscores ongoing discussions around congressional ethics and financial transparency.

Later that day, Rep. Roy’s press office addressed issues at the southern border: “An illegal alien is facing multiple charges for BATTERY on a federal officer and RESISTING ARREST. The suspect was RELEASED at the border under BIDEN. Congress can END catch and release with LEGISLATION.” This statement references current debates over immigration policy and enforcement practices.

On the evening of September 2, another announcement highlighted an upcoming event: “TOMORROW: Reps. Roy, @Rep_Magaziner, @RepBrianFitz, @RepJayapal, @RepTimBurchett, @RepAOC, and other Members of Congress will hold a press conference discussing new historic bipartisan legislation that would ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.” The tweet points to a growing movement within Congress to address potential conflicts of interest related to stock trading by lawmakers.

Representative Chip Roy has maintained his seat through several election cycles. In 2024 he defeated Kristin Hook with nearly 62% of the vote; previous victories include wins over Claudia Zapata in 2022 (62.8%), Wendy Davis in 2020 (52%), and Joseph Kopser in 2018 (50.2%).
