Rep. Chip Roy, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 21st district since 2019, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various issues. Born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and currently residing in Austin, Roy is an alumnus of the University of Virginia and holds a JD from the University of Texas-Austin.
On June 6, 2025, Rep. Roy expressed concerns about Sharia law potentially being implemented in certain areas near Dallas. He stated: “We have a situation where Islam and importantly the Sharia law that certain places like that city in Dallas, near Plano, that has the possibility of Sharia law being put in place is inconsistent with Western civilization.” He emphasized his opposition to such developments by saying, “We can’t have that.”
Later on the same day, he reflected on D-Day’s significance with a message highlighting American values. He remarked: “They knew that this country was worth fighting for, not because simply of the existence of the country, but because of what this country represents in terms of opportunity to live free and to prosper according to your own talents.”
In another tweet posted shortly after his D-Day reflection, Rep. Roy addressed the Senate regarding subsidies related to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). He warned against any compromise on these subsidies by stating: “You backslide one inch on those IRA subsidies and I’m voting against this bill… Because those god forsaken subsidies are killing our energy, killing our grid, making us weaker.”
These statements reflect Rep. Chip Roy’s ongoing engagement with significant political and cultural issues as he continues his tenure representing Texas’ 21st district.
