Rep. Chip Roy, representing Texas’ 21st district in the U.S. Congress, recently expressed his views on several topics through a series of tweets. Roy, who has been serving since 2019 after succeeding Lamar Smith, addressed issues ranging from legislative challenges to international concerns.
On June 4, 2025, Rep. Roy appeared on Glenn Beck’s show and commented on efforts to reverse certain legislative achievements. He stated that “There are forces at play that are desperately trying to undo the benefits [the House] got with respect to repealing the Green New Scam subsidies… which [Trump] campaigned fully and clearly on terminating.” He emphasized that these efforts are present in the Senate.
Later that day, Roy raised alarms about developments in London. He tweeted: “Is anybody paying attention to what’s happening in London?! You’ve got a massive Muslim takeover of the United Kingdom going on right before our eyes… I’ve got some strong concerns about Sharia Law and whether that will be forced on the American people.” His remarks suggest apprehension regarding potential cultural shifts and their implications for the United States.
In another tweet posted shortly after, Rep. Roy challenged Congress’s resolve by stating: “We’ll see if Congress can step up to the plate… You can’t send anything to me that I’m not going to vote to rescind. So fire away.” This reflects his firm stance against certain legislative proposals.
Chip Roy was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and currently resides in Austin, Texas. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in 1994 and earned a JD from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
