Rep. Chip Roy, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 21st district since 2019, recently addressed a series of tragic events through his press office’s social media account. The tweets highlight the ongoing efforts and emotional challenges faced by families affected by a recent flood at Camp Mystic.
On July 6, 2025, Rep. Roy expressed his continued support for the families affected by the disaster at Camp Mystic. He stated, “We continue to search and pray for those families. I met with the families last night of those who still not found their little girls from Camp Mystic. It’s one of the toughest meetings I’ve ever had to have.”
Later that day, he commented on the political atmosphere surrounding the tragedy. In a tweet posted at 13:31 UTC, he remarked on how some individuals are politicizing the situation, saying “In classic Washington DC fashion, everybody wants to politicize everything. 48 hours after a flood came through here and ravaged our community…” He emphasized that while political debates ensue, efforts remain focused on healing and locating missing individuals.
Further highlighting acts of bravery during this crisis, Rep. Roy acknowledged those who risked their lives to save others at Camp Mystic. At 13:44 UTC, he tweeted about these sacrifices and specifically mentioned Dick Eastland’s role in managing the camp over its long history: “I just want everybody to remember the courage of the heroic sacrifice of those who gave their lives to save some of those little girls lives…”
